Today we finished our last MAP test! (unless your child missed one or more by being out sick)
cute story... I read aloud through the rules for the language test this afternoon after recess to the children. The kids were a little hot, some sweaty and obviously a few were not quite listening... I impressed upon the children to be respectfully quiet, that we teachers cannot read anything to them because this is a language test, so it is all about words, etc.
As we were lining up to go to the computer lab, a little guy stopped me and asked, "Mrs. Swenson, will they let you know WHICH language it's in?" :) How can you not love teaching children?!
We will be beginning our "word work" portion of the Daily Five - this will include phonics lessons and eventually our new spelling word sorts. We have been journaling every day and today we wrote "FACT or FICTION" short stories. As the children read them, we are trying to guess if their stories are true or not. It is great fun and a good way to practice the difference between fact and fiction. Ask your child what he or she wrote about today.
It's Friday eve - hang in there! Mrs. S.
